Halverson Stops 43 for First Shutout in Mariners History

PORTLAND, ME - Ryan Ferrill broke a scoreless tie with a power play goal at 9:29 of the third period and Brandon Halverson did the rest. The Mariners' star goaltender was perfect on Saturday night at the Cross Insurance Arena, stopping all 43 Manchester Monarch shots in a 1-0 win. The shutout was the first in Mariners franchise history and catapulted the Mariners into third place in the North Division heading into the All-Star break. Levi's Game-Winner Cuts Down Nets

UNIONDALE, NY - The Canton Charge (10-15), powered by the Cleveland Cavaliers, took down the Long Island Nets (18-8) in a 118-117 victory on Friday night. Trailing 114-111 and 1:19 left in the game, Canton's Kobi Simmons hit a long jumper to cut the deficit to one. The Charge defense stopped Long Island three separate times on the next possession resulting in a shot clock violation and the ball. Depth Prevails in Comets Win over Devils

Utica, N.Y. - Five different players scored as the Comets took down the Binghamton Devils 5-3 Friday night at the Adirondack Bank Center. Kole Lind, Evan McEneny, Brendan Gaunce, Brendan Woods, and Carter Bancks all scored for Utica. Ivan Kulbakov made 29 saves in the win. The Devils started the night's scoring when Eric Gryba's shot from the point found its way past Kulbakov 21 seconds into the game.
