Three Winterhawks Alumni Competing in the 2025 IIHF World Championships

WHL Portland Winterhawks May 10, 2025 - Portland, Ore. - The Portland Winterhawks Hockey Club is proud to recognize Rihards Bukarts, Joachim Blichfeld, and Simon Knak, who are representing their respective country in the 2025 IIHF World Championships. The annual tournament is being held in Stockholm, Sweden, and Herning, Denmark, from May 9 to May 25, 2025. Burkarts played for the Winterhawks during the 2015-16 season after being acquired from the Brandon Wheat Kings. WHL Medicine Hat Tigers May 10, 2025 - The WHL Championship Series presented by Nutrien kicked off with Game 1 between the Medicine Hat Tigers and Spokane Chiefs on Friday night at Co-op Place. Hurricanes Sign Maloney

WHL Lethbridge Hurricanes May 9, 2025 - LETHBRIDGE, AB - The Lethbridge Hurricanes Hockey Club announced they have signed 2006-born defenceman Nathan Maloney to a Western Hockey League Scholarship and Development Agreement. Maloney, 18, was undrafted in the WHL Prospects Draft. The Strathmore, AB, product has spent the 2024-2025 season with the Calgary Canucks of the Alberta Junior Hockey League where he collected 40 points (13g-27a) along with 55 penalty minutes in 44 regular season games.
