Storm Select 13 Players In USHL Entry Draft

KEARNEY, Neb. - The Tri-City Storm have completed the 2010 USHL Entry Draft and have selected 13 players. The Storm added nine forwards, three defensemen and one goalie in the draft on Wednesday. Also, they made two trades - one with Chicago and the other with Waterloo - to acquire five more players.

After making a trade with Chicago to acquire four players, which included defensemen Kevin Lind and Zack Rall, in exchange for the number one overall pick, the Storm's first pick came in the second round of the draft, as they drafted center Brian Ward from The Governor's Academy. Ward is ranked 112th in the NHL Central Scouting final rankings and is expected to be drafted in the middle-rounds of the 2010 NHL Entry Draft.

The Storm proceeded to draft two players in the third round, drafting forwards Brad Schierhorn from the Belle Tire Midget Major program and Dominic Panetta from the Robertson Cup Champions (NAHL National Champions) - Bismarck Bobcats.

Tri-City made another trade in the fourth round, acquiring Soren Jonzzon from the Waterloo Black Hawks in exchange for the Storm's 48th overall pick in the fourth round. Jonzzon had eight goals, 11 assists and 52 penalty minutes in 48 games for the Black Hawks last season.
